Most of you are probably aware of Matthew McConaughey and his new book, Greenlights. I’ll admit, I was a bit hesitant to read the book myself (I explain why to Matthew in this podcast) but after hearing from enough people that I had to read it, I decided to pick up a copy and, let me tell you, it did not disappoint.
So, when I had the opportunity to have Matthew join me on the podcast, I jumped at the chance. We talk about a lot of important topics in this conversation and really hit on fatherhood as we’re approaching Father’s Day. We also discuss the power of being the underdog, reinventing yourself, the value of sacrifice, taking our fathers off pedestals they don’t belong, and the concept and benefit of greenlights.
“We all have different hardships of equivalent nature no matter how successful we are. The approach at how to look at a hardship or crisis is universal. We’re all victims but do we choose to be victimized is where the choice comes in.” Tweet That— Matthew McConaughey
My guest today is the one and only Matthew McConaughey and I’m sure none of you need an introduction into who this man is. We all know him from his iconic roles on the silver screen but most of us have never been introduced to the depth of his thoughts, ideas, and insight.
In fact, that’s why I enjoyed his new book, Greenlights, so much. In it, he gave us a glimpse into his life that most of us will never see and showed us that in spite of his tremendous public success, he’s a man who has had his share of failures and setbacks like us all.
Men, I really think you’re going to enjoy this conversation as much as I did and walk away with a new perspective into the life of a man we may think we already know.
“The cocktail at the end of the day tastes better after I put in a damn good day of work. The Saturday out on the lake is more enjoyable when I did the best in my work week.” Tweet That— Matthew McConaughey
